Breakdown is a tool used in the layout department for shots, it allows the artist to select all the different assets required for a shot and put them in one place. It is a recipe-like tool to keep an overview of assets in a shot. During the shot process, assets might need to be added, changed, and/or removed depending on the supervisor's needs.
This project focuses on the overhaul of the tool's look, information architecture, and user interaction, bringing it in line with studio style and feel. While creating the redesign it was important to have all the important product features remaining and to get an alignment between the VFX and the animation layout teams.

This redesign process were the series of steps that the team took to turn the previous version of Breakdown into the new updated Helix Breakdown. Even though this process might seem very linear it was ever evolving and iterative.
This process is a generalized version of the UX redesign process as all the important and necessary information and data to update the design are collected before starting the redesign iterations and testing them with users.
